At the height of the first Covid19 Lockdown, in 2020, Luke Allport & Gemma McDowell from The Contacts released an online version of Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell's 'Two Can Have a Party'

The Contacts are a Motown & Northern Soul band from Peterborough UK.

It was an instant online hit, quickly gaining over 12k views in the first couple of weeks. For most of us stuck at home with Covid19 restrictions, we couldn't go anywhere and the world needed reminding that two people can actually have a party, with a little help with some online music and LIVE streams from a Soul band in the UK.

This studio version was recorded for the charity fundraising 'It's All About The Music' from Mod Shoes Studios in March 2021. Its a bit more polished than the original online version but still holds the same meaning, bringing us together at difficult times.

Recorded on 13th March 2021 for our LIVE stream 'It's All About The Music' - This is one of our favourite Northern Soul tracks!

It was the final track played by Russ Winstanley at Wigan Casino whe he randomly selected it. Some Soul lovers claim they dont like it, or even say its too commercial or overplayed. We play it at nearly every gig, and can say with confidence that it gets almost everyone up dancing, and singing along.

Not only did Stevie Wonder write this song with Clarence Paul and Morris Broadnax, but he also played drums on The Contour's original version as well. This song also never appeared on a Contours original studio album but it's a great track. It was a top 40 UK hit in 1970, reaching #31 as a consequence of its popularity on the Northern Soul scene. Its always been an epic hit in our LIVE set, and gets everyone on the dancefloor!

The lead vocals were originally performed by Joseph Stubbs, but here Luke Allport takes the reigns. All of the tracks were recorded in isolation in March 2021, and mixed and edited together by Luke Allport.
